Crystal Palace have submitted an offer to Andoni Iraola just 24 hours after he confirmed he would be departing Bournemouth at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has opted against extending his contract, bringing his three-year tenure at the Vitality Stadium to a close. Iraola has been linked with a number of clubs, including Newcastle, Manchester United and Athletic Bilbao, though the Magpies have distanced themselves from any links.

With Oliver Glasner also set to leave Selhurst Park this summer, the Eagles have wasted little time in entering talks. Marca reports that Palace put a multi-million pound offer to Iraola and pledged to invest in their squad on an annual basis. The Bournemouth boss is said to be weighing up the proposition.

Just 12 months ago, Palace were on course to lift the FA Cup, before going on to claim the Community Shield later that same year. However, they have since lost several key players, with the likes of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi both moving on.

Iraola is unlikely to be short of suitors. Should those at Old Trafford decide against handing Michael Carrick the role on a permanent basis, the Spaniard is expected to feature prominently on their shortlist.

Clubs in his native Spain, including Athletic Bilbao, are also reported to be interested. Iraola guided Bournemouth to 12th place in his debut season before leading them to ninth last term - jointly their finest ever league finish.

During his tenure, he oversaw some remarkable victories, including back-to-back wins at Old Trafford and consecutive triumphs at Arsenal, reports the Mirror.

The Cherries are currently on an impressive 12-match unbeaten run and sit 11th in the table.

Their recent form has thrust them into contention for European football, with the south coast club just three points adrift of Chelsea in sixth - a position that would secure a place in next season's Europa League.

Iraola revealed that, following his three-year stint at the club, the time felt right to move on.

He said: "It has been an honour to manage AFC Bournemouth and I am proud of what we have achieved together. I'm thankful to the players and staff that I've worked with, as well as Bill, who have all made my time here so special.

"As for the fans, you have continued to show your fantastic support to myself and the team, and for that I will always be grateful.

"I feel this is the right moment for me to step away, but I will always carry fantastic memories of this club."
