Arsenal will begin their efforts to make the Champions League final when they face Atletico Madrid on April 29 in Spain - with the second-leg of their semi-final being played at home.

The Gunners just about squeezed past Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates, making the last four for the second successive year. Mikel Arteta's side won 1-0 in Portugal and held their visitors to a 0-0 draw at home. Last season they were beaten by PSG and 12 months on will take on Atletico.

Diego Simeone's side were hammered 4-0 by Arsenal earlier this season but managed to see off Barcelona in the last eight to set up their semi-final clash. Simeone is eyeing a third Champions League final having lost in 2014 and 2016, both times to Real Madrid.

They will host the Premier League side in late April before making a trip to London on May 5. The other semi-final sees holders PSG take on Bayern Munich - the German giants having beaten in an all-time classic semi final that was decided by late stunners from Luis Diaz and Michael Olise.

PSG ended Liverpool's European dreams for the second year on the bounce and have looked irresistible at times as they look to go back-to-back.

The semi-final will be a repeat of the 2020 Champions League final, which was won by the German side. PSG will host the first-leg on April 28 before making the trip to the Allianz Arena eight days later on May 6.

PSG claimed the European Cup for the first time in their history last year, hammering Inter Milan in the final in Munich. Luis Enrique is eyeing a third Champions League success having also masterminded Barcelona's road to glory in 2015.

Arsenal and Atletico are both eyeing their first European triumph. Each team has been a losing finalist but one of them will find themselves 90 minutes from a first every victory.

In the meantime, Bayern Munich and Real battled in a thrilling showdown that saw the hosts win 4-3 on the night, with the clash ending 6-4 on aggregate in favour of the German giants. Eduardo Camavinga was sent off late on, with former Liverpool winger Diaz and Olise firing in late strikes to secure victory.
