Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill won one of his two Premier League titles with Jose Mourinho in charge of the club, although has admitted he was a ‘nightmare’ at times.

Cahill played a key role alongside John Terry at the back when Chelsea were crowned champions in 2014/15, their first title for five years.

The Englishman had already proven himself as a reliable member of the first team squad, notably by playing the 2012 Champions League final while injured.

“I want to say there’s two – arrogant but confident.

“Obviously confidence sounds better than arrogant but just a belief in what he does. And I think that rubs off that rubs off on the squad. I think he feeds into the squad like you know you’re the you’re the best, you’re the best in this position.

“We’re the best as a collective group, you know, don’t listen to the outside noise and we’re very much all as one. And obviously what you see in the interviews and the way he is how he is on a day-to-day. very assured, very confident in in what he’s doing.

“Can take the heat off the squad in difficult moments because of his presence and his aura and what you know his arrogance might say in a good way, but it rubs off on the squad

When asked about what he was like whenever his side lost a game, Cahill simply said:

“Oh, he’s a nightmare when he loses.”

Cahill’s views on current Chelsea squad

Being a Chelsea cult hero, Cahill has kept a close eye on the current goings on at Stamford Bridge regularly.

Cahill has actually defended the current Chelsea squad despite the criticism they have been facing in recent weeks.

The Blues have dropped out of the top five, and the usual positions have been scrutinised ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

One of those has been goalkeeper, however Cahill has defended Robert Sanchez recently too, with the club left to make a big decision over the shot stopper when the season comes to an end.
