Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Spanish defender Óscar Mingueza who will be available as a free agent at the end of this season.
The 26-year currently plays for Celta Vigo, but negotiations over a new deal have broken down.
And the Gunners are now considering making a move for him because he ticks one of their main boxes which is a player’s versatility.
He can play at right-back, centre-back or operate anywhere across the defensive line.
Mingueza is a product of the Barcelona La Masia academy, and he made 66 appearances for the Catalans before joining Celta in 2022.
He has also been capped four times by Spain at senior international level.
Aston Villa are also interested in the player, and the fact that they would not have to pay a transfer fee to sign him has an appeal for a club that has its own issues with Financial Fair Play compliance.
