Report: Recent Chelsea target now likely to end up at Premier League rivals Liverpool

Marcos Senesi is set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, and one club he has been linked to is Chelsea.

Senesi’s contract expires in June, and there are no indications that the defender is going to sign a new one.

It is good news for clubs in the Premier League, who will have the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer.

The Marc Guehi ship has sailed… Any experienced alternatives that come to mind ahead of this summer?

Marcos Senesi now likely to join Liverpool as Chelsea cool interest

While it is thought that they have considered him, it was recently reported that Chelsea have no plans to sign Senesi this summer, and it does not look like that stance has changed.

According to The i Paper, Liverpool are Senesi’s most likely destination, with Chelsea no longer interested in the Argentine.

The Blues could still bring in a new central defender before the start of the 2026/27 season, though.

It is being reported that Chelsea are in for Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, who fits the profile of player they are looking for more than Senesi.

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over Chelsea, the club’s transfer strategy has been to sign young players. Inacio is 24 years of age, making him four years Senesi’s junior.

Marcos Senesi will help Liverpool to finish above Chelsea again

Last season, Liverpool won the Premier League title and finished higher than Chelsea, and it looks like they will earn more points than their rivals by the time the current campaign concludes.

Signing Senesi while Chelsea bring in another young centre-back will also help Liverpool to finish above the Blues next term.

Liam Rosenior’s side are not going to get any better if they keep on signing potential, while their rivals go for experience. Given what this Chelsea team need right now, not even challenging Liverpool for Senesi’s signature seems silly and is a decision that the club could come to regret.

It does not have to be Senesi, but the point is Chelsea have to recruit an experienced centre-half this summer.
