Chelsea are now open to signing more experienced players but there's a twist - journalist

It is going to be a very interesting summer at Chelsea, with plenty of changes expected.

They could lose one of their star players as Enzo Fernandez continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

New arrivals are also expected, and there could be a slight tweak in Chelsea’s transfer policy.

The Marc Guehi ship has sailed… Any experienced alternatives that come to mind ahead of this summer?

Chelsea open to adding more experience to squad but won’t abandon current transfer strategy

In a Q&A on the Daily Mail, journalist Kieran Gill revealed that Chelsea are “tweaking” their current transfer strategy, which will please fans.

Chelsea supporters have been calling on the club to sign more experienced players, and Gill says they are now willing to do that.

However, according to the Daily Mail journalist, Chelsea still want to recruit young talent and will not completely abandon their philosophy in the transfer market.

While there may very well be a shift in Chelsea’s transfer policy this summer, one experienced player whom they are unlikely to sign is Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi.

He is set to be available on a free transfer, but Chelsea’s interest in Senesi is thought to have cooled, with Liverpool now his most likely destination.

Where Chelsea need experience the most

Chelsea’s decision not to pursue Senesi will frustrate some fans, as central defence is the area where they feel Liam Rosenior’s side really need more experience.

It is certainly a fair argument. The Blues have not defended well this season, especially of late. If they had an experienced and dominant centre-half playing week in, week out for them, it could have been a different story.

Unfortunately, there are not too many of those on the market, but Chelsea have to gamble on someone this summer.

Whatever happens, at least Levi Colwill will be back from his ACL injury. But if the club are relying on him to solve all of their defensive issues next season, they could be in for a very rude awakening.
