Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior finds his future in question at Stamford Bridge just three months after arriving at the club from Strasbourg.
After initially making a positive impression at the Premier League side, the Blues’ form has tailed off significantly.
Across their last six matches, they have suffered five defeats, with the exception a 7-0 FA Cup win over Port Vale. In the meantime, they have conceded an alarming 15 games in the matches they have lost, leaking three or more goals in four of these encounters, with Rosenior apparently powerless to stop the slide.
Despite a strong record at Strasbourg, the Englishman is a rookie at the top level of the game, which has led to a rapid loss of faith among the Chelsea fanbase.
Those in the boardroom, though, are happy to stick by the 41-year-old.
Chelsea planning no review for Rosenior
A key aspect of the Englishman’s agreement when he moved to Cheslea in January was that he would not face an immediate review in the summer, Kieran Gill, the respected Chelsea expert for the Daily Mail, reports.
Indeed, he is even involved in recruitment discussions ahead of the opening of the transfer window in June. His responsibilities in this regard are said to be more extensive than Enzo Maresca’s were, which is especially important given the
Rosenior will only be sacked if there is an astonishing turn of events, Gil claims.
He writes: “My prediction is: Rosenior stays in charge of Chelsea this summer because only something approaching an absolute meltdown would force the club into another change of head coach.”
Rosenior does not even face an inquest into his future as things stand, though it’s unclear how bad the situation will have to get before serious questions are asked of the boss. Missing out on the Champions League would not be considered catastrophic, missing out on the Europa League or Conference League could be.
