Jimmy-Jay Morgan has been linked with a move to Lancashire as North End eye the Chelsea youngster.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed for a below-par Peterborough United side, with 14 goals and four assists in all competitions this season.
According to BBC Sport, Sheffield United and Swansea City are also keeping tabs on the loan star.
The three clubs have also been credited with interest for Barnsley’s Reyes Cleary.
Morgan has a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, alerting the interest of clubs in the Football League.
His future at the Blues is uncertain, but will be discussed in the summer as the youngster is highly rated by officials at the club.
Peterborough are prepared to go “toe-to-toe” with Chelsea for Morgan, although with bigger clubs circling the loanee, Boro’s boss Luke Williams understands the decision is out of their hands.
Morgan is currently an England U-20 international, making his debut in October 2025 in a 1-0 defeat to Switzerland.
He was at Chelsea’s Cobham academy since 2014 until 2017 when he moved to Southampton, where he stayed for six years until rejoining the London club in 2023.
A Good Fit For Preston? – Opinion
There’s no doubting Morgan’s ability – scoring goals in a Peterborugh side that have flattered to deceive in League One this season, is a testament to what he can do.
An effective dribbler with a high completion rate of (60.9%), the Peterborough loanee has made 28 successful dribbles in League One this season.
He’s also incredible in a one-on-one situation, with 157 duels won and a success rate of 53.4%, making him one of the best in his position in those high tense situations.
Morgan also attracts people towards him with 80 fouls won and even winning a penalty.
Creativity is also a strong suit of his with 28 chances created, seven of which are considered ‘big’ opportunities.
With 12 goals from an xG. 9.28, he’s converted his goals from 18 shots on target this season, symbolising his quality of shots and ability to even score from a harder position.
He seems to be a player in the same ilk as Alfie Devine, a ‘10’ who can drift wide and use his ability on the ball to create chances as well as a carve his own.
He’d be an adequate replacement for the Spurs loanee should he not sign on with the Lilywhites for next season.
