Man Utd legend picks Man City star over Fernandes, but stats brutally expose him

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is arguably one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

He has elevated his game to extraordinary heights this season, racking up an impressive eight goals and 17 assists.

Rayan Cherki is second on the assist charts in the league, with 10 assists to his name.

The Portuguese playmaker is now a leading contender for the prestigious Player of the Year award.

However, Roy Keane believes that another midfielder currently outshines Fernandes.

The United legend boldly named Bernardo Silva of Manchester City as the best midfielder in the English top flight.

He said (via The Overlap): “Both (are) brilliant players. Silva is in a better team, Bruno doing well in not so good United team.

“At this moment, team form wise, I will go with Silva.”

Keane has been highly critical of United’s results, players and the coaching staff this season.

Earlier today he predicted Chelsea to beat the Red Devils in their upcoming Premier League clash.

Keane forgot that statistics do not lie. Silva has managed just two goals and four assists in 31 league appearances this campaign.

These statistics are barely a fraction of the output Fernandes has produced.

While Silva remains a key figure for City and is destined to leave a lasting legacy, the claim that he currently surpasses Fernandes is difficult to justify.

Fernandes is now just three assists away from matching the iconic 20-assist milestone set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

He has already broken the all-time club record for most assists in a season, previously held by David Beckham (15).

He also became the second-fastest player in United’s history to reach 100 goals and 100 assists, only behind Wayne Rooney.
