Head coach Vitor Pereira is hopeful Nottingham Forest haven’t been hit too hard by injuries after their Europa League win over Porto.

The Reds progressed to the semi-finals of the competition by beating their Portuguese opponents 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate. Morgan Gibbs-White bagged the decisive second-leg goal at the City Ground to set up a clash with Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

However, it remains to be seen whether the victory came at a cost for Forest. Striker Chris Wood, defender Murillo and winger Callum Hudson-Odoi all appeared to pick up injuries during the clash.

Pereira said on TNT Sports afterwards: “Only Callum was a muscular injury. We don't know. The other two I think they will recover."

Wood was forced off just past the quarter-hour mark on the banks of the Trent. The New Zealand international had been on the end of a horrible challenge by Jan Bednarek.

The Forest forward initially tried to carry on before having to make way. For his part, Bednarek was sent off after referee Danny Makkelie went to his screen following a VAR check.

Murillo and Hudson-Odoi, meanwhile, came off at the same time in the second half. The latter had been a half-time substitute for Omari Hutchinson but was clearly limping by the time he was substituted.

Hudson-Odoi looked devastated when he left the pitch. He was seen after the game using crutches.

Pereira had faced a difficult balancing act when it came to managing his players’ minutes. Forest’s push for European glory comes as they are still battling for Premier League survival, with a huge game to come against Burnley on Sunday.

"I have a fantastic team, it's not about the manager. They have the spirit, character and quality,” Pereira said. “They deserve it. The club and the supporters they deserve it.

"We need to suffer together and we need to feel proud at the end of a game. Feel proud about the supporters and about the result on the pitch."
