Man City make decision on NUFC star ahead of summer transfer window

Manchester City have cooled their interest in Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento.

The 23-year-old was made aware of City’s interest last summer and is yet to engage in talks over a new contract, which is due to expire in June 2028.

Livramento joined the Magpies from Southampton for an initial £32million in August 2023 and before his injuries this campaign was valued at double that.

The former Chelsea academy graduate has had three separate spells out injured, the latest being eight weeks out with a hamstring problem.

Livramento returned last month but has looked way short of his best, having played a questionable role in goals conceded against Barcelona, Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

Man City are now said to be pursuing other options in their search for a right-back, with Sky Sports claiming that Feyenoord’s Givairo Read is being closely monitored ahead of a potential summer move.

The 19-year-old has made 50 appearances for the Dutch giants and although he is currently injured is expected to return before the end of the campaign.

The Netherlands U21 international has been excelling in the Eredivisie. Not only are Man City showing an interest in the full-back, but Bayern Munich and other Premier League clubs are too.

Newcastle United right-back situation

Kieran Trippier has announced he will leave Newcastle when his contract expires this summer, while Emil Krafth is also out of contract and expected to depart, leaving Livramento as the only recognised senior right-back at the club.

Livramento is one of three players, including Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, who have been heavily linked with an exit this summer. Unless there is progress on the contract front, then the Magpies may look to cash in.

When asked about his future previously, Livramento said: “That's nothing that I'm in control of. I leave that to my dad, to my agent. For me, I've been out for seven weeks.

“I've been working really hard to come back and obviously help the team. I'm very happy with how I've played (against Man City). That's my focus, staying where I'm at now. That's always been my focus. Helping the team as much as I can.”
