Ineos are being tipped to invest heavily in the Manchester United squad this coming summer.
By deciding not to spend in the mid-season window, Manchester United inciacted they are preparing to re-shape the squad in the summer instead.
There are important additions required to support the next head coach, whoever is appointed. The standout area is centre-midfield, where Casemiro is set to depart.
With Manuel Ugarte also struggling, United are expected to make two midfield additions. There are also calls to strengthen on the wing, and in defence.
United will have European football again next season, and the squad needs to be built to compete in all competitions.
One reason Manchester United fans should be confident the club will invest, is because of the notion that Ineos’ reputation could depend on it.

With two managerial changes, clearly it has not all gone to plan. But if the club can end 2025/26 with Champions League qualification, their project will be on track.
This summer will be the time to invest, rather than sit on their laurels. And after this summer, they can no longer hind behind past regimes.
They will have had three full summer transfer windows to re-shape the Manchester United squad, bringing in their own players and shedding several deals agreed before they arrived.
Ben Jacobs told The United Stand: “This summer on the field is viewed as as important, if not more important than any new manager or any behind the scenes hire.
“It’s all about that last push for proven experience and multiple starters to fix the midfield, to fix the left side, to maybe add another centre back. To sort the Rashford situation, Sancho is leaving, which is good news as far as Man United are concerned as well.
“And once they’ve added all of that up, there’s kind of no excuses anymore, because we can’t call this Ineos project short term or novel or new.
“We have to start referring to it,because they’ll have been in for long enough and had multiple windows as medium term.
“It’s the part of the project to see a return on the field in terms of regular Champions League qualification, a consistent 11 manager that stays, stadium redevelopment getting off the ground, scrutiny on the debt, of course, and how that is going to move on positively, accountability, transparency.
“And as you head into this summer, they can’t keep saying it’s a project restart, ‘we need a bit more time’.
“That’s why I expect this summer to be hugely significant and ambitious as Manchester United.”

Harry Maguire’s big prediction
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has already predicted a significant summer for the club.
Prior to signing his new contract, Maguire told The Standard: “It’s going to be a big summer. We know that for Manchester United.”
Fixing the midfield is a critical task. Whoever is appointed as head coach will struggle if the wrong signings are made or United do not invest enough.
Ineos must give Manchester United’s next coach a proper chance of success, and their reputation will depend on their commitment to doing so, and the incisiveness of their decisions.
