'The Definition Of A Market Opportunity' 'Bang Average Dross' Liverpool Fans React To Latest Summer Transfer Rumour

Liverpool are now considered the “most likely destination” for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, according to reports.

The I Paper claims the Reds are favourites to sign the Argentinian international on a free transfer this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United unlikely to offer him a contract. Supporters on X are not particularly impressed with the prospect of Senesi making the move to Anfield:

The definition of a “market opportunity”

Bang average dross, if he’s the quality off target we are after then it’s going to be a poor summer

Virgil needs a solid back up at LCB. He’s 35 soon and can’t play every minute anymore. We’ve seen that this season. This makes sense as transfer budget is needed elsewhere in the summer.

Why are Liverpool interested in the player?

It does seem likely that the Reds are now having to put contingency plans in place in the event that Ibrahima Konate leaves when his contract expires.

There have been contradictory reports on the progress of talks with the Frenchman, but the interest in Senesi suggests that no breakthrough over an extension has been found.

With Senesi joining, the club would have 5 centre-half options, if Konate stays, including captain Virgil van Dijk, Giovanni Leoni and new signing Jeremy Jacquet, which is a sizeable number to accommodate.

Senesi has not decided on his next club

Despite The I Paper reporting that Liverpool are favourites to recruit the 28-year-old, they also say that the player has “yet to make a decision” on his future.

It appears Senesi has been offered around to nearly every team at the top end of the Premier League, and the Reds are simply the team likeliest to take up the opportunity to snap him up.
