Hoffenheim striker and Arsenal target Fisnik Asllani has openly spoken about his ambition to play in the UEFA Champions League, a statement likely to intensify transfer speculation as he evaluates his next career move with several big clubs circling this summer.
The 22-year-old forward has been one of the breakout stars of the Bundesliga this season, netting double figures in goals and assists as he impressed defenders and scouts alike with his all-round attacking threat.
His performances have put him firmly on the radar of elite European sides, with Premier League clubs such as Chelsea and ARSENAL monitoring his situation, while Spanish giants including Barcelona also retain longstanding interest.
Asllani has a contract with Hoffenheim that runs until 2029, but reports suggest his deal includes a modest release clause in the region of €25-€30 million, meaning a summer move is feasible should a suitor meet the asking price. The Kosovo international has taken the transfer talk in his stride, insisting that his focus for now remains on finishing the current Bundesliga campaign strongly and helping Hoffenheim secure their objectives
“I try to keep my sense of humour through everything. That is one of my greatest strengths,” Asllani told Sky Sport. “I try to stay relaxed. What people say, I cannot influence. I can only influence what is on the pitch. There I will always throw everything in, always give everything.
‘In the end, it is also a good sign that people are talking. Because that means that I am also performing well. Therefore it is obviously good, but it doesn’t interest me. I stand on the pitch, I throw everything in. Until the last matchday and then we will see.”
“Of course, the Champions League is a dream for every footballer. I think it is simply a beautiful feeling to play in the Champions League,” Asllani explained. “I get goosebumps when I just watch and the anthem plays.
‘I always watch the Champions League together with my father, which is why it is simply a huge goal to play in the Champions League one day. I have dreamed of that since I was a little boy.”
Speaking to SportBILD about the links to the Premier League’s top two clubs, Brown said: “Yes, you do pick up on things like that, but it doesn’t influence me. I’m concentrating on the goals that are within my control. Nothing else interests me right now.”
WHERE SHOULD ASLLANI GO NEXT?
For a young striker with clear ambition and growing capability, the choice of next club could define Asllani’s trajectory. Here’s a breakdown of the most compelling options:
Chelsea: A move to Stamford Bridge could offer Premier League exposure and strong competitive fixtures week in, week out. Chelsea are rebuilding and could provide Asllani with a platform to develop as part of a dynamic attacking unit. However, guaranteed Champions League football is not assured at this stage, and he might compete with several established forwards for minutes.
ARSENAL: the Gunnersprovide another Premier League route, with regular European qualification ambitions. The Gunners are one of the best sides in Europe, if Asllani joined Mikel Arteta’s side, he would be competing for trophies and playing in the Champions League pretty much every season.
Barcelona: Though more competitive internally, Barcelona might represent the ultimate dream destination. Asllani has reportedly said it is a club he has long admired, reinforcing that a switch to Barça would fulfil both his tackling-on-Europe and personal aspirations. The Catalan side are usually in the Champions League, which directly aligns with his priorities — but he would face intense competition for playing time.
Hoffenheim: Staying put has its benefits, too. If Hoffenheim manage to qualify for European competition, or if Asllani feels he needs another season to refine his game, the Bundesliga could remain an excellent development platform. But for someone who has expressly stated a desire for Champions League football, staying in Germany might delay progress.
