'Painful': Crystal Palace boss explains injury concerns over two stars before West Ham

West Ham United face Crystal Palace in Monday’s Premier League kick-off, and Oliver Glasner is hopeful that Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix will be fit to feature at Selhurst Park.

Three years after Jarrod Bowen scored the winner against Fiorentina in Prague, Crystal Palace are now just 180 minutes away from a Europa Conference League final of their own.

The Eagles defeated Fiorentina 4-2 over two legs to secure a semi-final spot. The downside, however, is that Glasner was forced to take off Wharton and Lacroix during the first-half at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

As West Ham United prepare to make the short trip across London, the prospect of Palace being without their first-choice midfielder and centre-half would have boosted the confidence in the visiting ranks.

However, speaking to TNT Sports, Glasner remains hopeful that both can be involved on Monday.

West Ham United could face Crystal Palace without Adam Wharton

“Adam is an abductor [injury], like when he had to leave the England camp,” Glasner says, Wharton ruled out of the Three Lions’ March fixtures. “Let’s see. It doesn’t look so serious but we have to assess him further.

“Maxence was foot to foot contact and then he felt his knee, the medial ligament. So let’s see, but it is painful.

But would you swap Nuno for the Cherries boss?

Lacroix posted a triumphant message on his official Instagram account at full-time, following Ismaila Sarr’s crucial goal in the away leg in Florence. The ball-playing centre-half appeared to be in very good spirits, despite having to leave the field with 41 minutes on the clock.

Nuno Espirito Santo is due to speak to the media today at his pre-match press conference.

Nuno welcomed Crysencio Summerville back for a first start in a month during last week’s 4-0 thrashing of Wolves. Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo are also available following recent injury concerns.
