Ollie Watkins has already set his sights on joining the Premier League 100 Club after bringing up a century of goals for Aston Villa in all competitions.

The striker put Villa ahead against Bologna in the club’s Europa League quarter-final second leg, finishing off a sweeping move in the 16th minute.

In doing so, Watkins joins an illustrious list of Villa greats: Billy Walker (244), Harry Hampton (242), Joe Bache (184), John Devey (183), Eric Houghton (170), Pongo Waring (167), Johnny Dixon (144), Peter McParland (121), Billy Garraty (112), Dai Astley (100), and Len Capwell (100).

Watkins is the first player to reach the milestone since McParland did so 66 years ago during the 1960/61 campaign.

"It’s a milestone that everyone wants to hit, every striker wants to hit, scoring 100 goals," he told TNT Sports of his latest landmark.

"I think the next for me is 100 Premier League goals, that’s what I’ve got my eye on and it’s definitely achievable. It’s an amazing milestone."

Watkins is 16 goals shy of a century of top-flight goals, having scored 84 in 215 games since joining Villa in 2020.

He has responded positively to being left out of the most recent England squad for the March internationals, scoring in Lille, against West Ham and in both wins over Bologna too.

"That’s all I can do [score goals],” he told TNT Sports about getting back in the England squad for the World Cup.

“I was disappointed not to be in the previous squad, but yeah, I can understand his [Tuchel's] reasons for not picking me.

"I just have to do my talking on the pitch and keep performing well and then score as many as I can come the end of the season."
