One of boxing's most exciting prospects is set to light up Liverpool this weekend as Ben Whittaker steps through the ropes. The 28-year-old comes up against Braian Suarez at the M&S Arena on Saturday, 18 April, with the bout streaming live on DAZN.
Light heavyweight Whittaker stepped in to replace WBO champion Callum Smith, who was forced to withdraw from the event after picking up an injury during training camp. Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) is widely regarded as one of the sport's brightest talents, having knocked out Benjamin Gavazi in the opening round of his Matchroom debut back in November.
He will be looking to keep his unbeaten record intact when he comes up against Suarez (21-4, 20 KOs) on Saturday. The Argentine heads into the contest on the back of a second-round TKO victory over Sergio Santos Dantas in November.
Also featuring on the undercard are Molly McCann vs Ashleigh Johnson (junior featherweight), Joe McGrail vs Aaron Hayden (junior featherweight) and Leo Atang vs Viktor Chvarkou (heavyweight). Coverage gets underway at 7pm, with the Whittaker and Suarez ring walks anticipated at around 9.20pm.
Whittaker vs Suarez is just one of several marquee bouts on the horizon, with David Benavidez vs Zurdo Ramirez (2 May), Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois (9 May) and Oleksandr Usyk vs Rico Verhoeven (23 May) all to follow. Ordinarily, each of these fight nights would require a separate purchase to watch live, but DAZN now offers an all-encompassing package giving access to all these PPV events in a single subscription.
The new DAZN Ultimate subscription provides a minimum of 12 PPV events included per year, featuring those mentioned above. Subscribers also gain access to more than 185 bouts from promoters such as Queensbury, Matchroom and Misfits.
Those on the Ultimate plan can anticipate savings of over £300 annually compared to purchasing individual PPVs. DAZN Ultimate offers two payment options, with members able to pay £24.99 monthly for 12 months or save £49.98 by paying annually upfront at £249.99.
This price encompasses a range of boxing magazine programmes, documentaries, behind-the-scenes content and press conferences. Football enthusiasts are also catered for, with every fixture from Serie A available alongside highlights from La Liga, Bundesliga and the Saudi Pro League.
DAZN Ultimate subscribers can stream in superior quality as well, since a subscription delivers HDR and Dolby 5.1 surround sound on selected events. A condition of DAZN Ultimate is that subscribers must commit to a 12-month contract.
Alternatively, Whittaker vs Suarez is available to stream with a standard DAZN subscription from £15.99, while the Wardley vs Dubois and Usyk vs Rico PPVs cost £24.99 each. The fights mentioned will stream exclusively on DAZN, meaning they won't be broadcast by channels like Sky Sports or TNT Sports.
