Michael Carrick now shares latest injury update for Man Utd duo ahead of major clash vs Chelsea

Michael Carrick has provided a key injury update on Patrick Dorgu and Kobbie Mainoo ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The 44-year-old Manchester United legend sat down with members of the media at the Carrington training complex for his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Michael Carrick has only six Premier League matches remaining in his interim Red Devils head coach reign before the end of the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.

However, the United interim boss is trying to manage injuries and suspensions in the Red Devils first-team squad amid the club’s Premier League top-four challenge.

Michael Carrick rules Patrick Dorgu out of Man Utd action for the Premier League match against Chelsea

Patrick Dorgu has missed the last nine Premier League matches for Manchester United under Michael Carrick after he suffered a hamstring injury in January.

The 21-year-old Danish full-back had impressed in Carrick’s first two matches in charge of Man Utd after scoring against both Manchester City and Arsenal.

Carrick revealed that Dorgu has been making progress on his recovery from his hamstring injury, but the United star is not ready to return against Chelsea.

“Patrick won’t be [available],” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s doing well, rehabbing well and he’s kind of on track, but he’s not with us in terms of training.

“He’s back on the pitch, which is positive and he’s doing really well.”

Michael Carrick hints Kobbie Mainoo might have overcome his Man Utd injury setback ahead of the Chelsea fixture

Kobbie Mainoo was sidelined for Man Utd’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Leeds United at Old Trafford after a minor injury that he suffered in training.

The 20-year-old England star’s absence paved the way for Manuel Ugarte to start alongside Casemiro in the Premier League clash between United and Leeds United.

Unlike Dorgu, Carrick hinted that Mainoo is in a much better position to return for the Red Devils for their Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

“Kobbie is doing little bits, he’s working toward it, he’s doing bits, so there’s a decision to be made,” he said.

Chelsea will host Man Utd at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening for their latest Premier League fixture, with kick-off for the match slated for 8pm UK time.
