‘I'm disappointed’: Michael Carrick breaks silence on key Man Utd duo missing Chelsea match

Michael Carrick has now dropped a powerful reaction to Manchester United losing Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez to suspensions ahead of the Chelsea match.

Harry Maguire was ruled out of action for Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday evening due to his red card back in March.

But the 33-year-old ex-Man Utd captain suffered another setback after the Football Association (FA) extended his suspension by a further Premier League match.

Maguire will now miss the Premier League visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, with Lisandro Martinez in the same boat as the United defender.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Michael Carrick expressed his deep disappointment over Maguire’s two-match Premier League suspension.

“To be honest, there’s not much to react to. I’m disappointed, of course,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“We’ve had a few reasons to be disappointed over the last few weeks. We have to move on because the decision has been made.”

Michael Carrick rules out Lisandro Martinez for Man Utd’s Premier League match against Chelsea

Lisandro Martinez has been suspended for three Premier League matches after the 28-year-old received a straight red in 10-man Man Utd’s loss to Leeds United.

United were set to appeal Martinez’s suspension after the controversial sending off, but Carrick added that his side will be without the defender for the Chelsea match.

“We didn’t agree with it, it’s obvious how I felt after the game, and I still feel that way now,” he explained.

“I don’t want to go into it now; it is what it is. We have to accept it and move on.”

Man Utd and Chelsea’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge is currently slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK.
