The 25-year-old hasn’t played a single minute this season after tearing a torn cruciate ligament in his knee last summer.

But having returned to training a few weeks ago, the Swiss international is nearing contention.

“Zeki's moving in the right direction but we'll have to make a call on that,” Burnley boss Scott Parker said.

“He's training now with us and he's on the right track. It’s probably still a little bit early, but there's not many games left, so we'll see where we are with that one.”

Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts and Josh Cullen all remain sidelined, while Hannibal is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

“Hannibal is probably edging closer, but he will miss this weekend,” Parker added.

“Hopefully over the next week or so…although maybe the next game [against Manchester City] comes a little bit too quick again, but maybe heading towards Leeds is probably a better option or certainly one which we hope to have him back.

“Other than that really there's the long termers like Connor Roberts, who is still not available.”

Axel Tuanzebe, meanwhile, was left out last week despite making his return from an Achilles injury for DR Congo during the March international break.

Addressing the defender’s situation, Parker said: “Axel came back from a busy schedule.

“Obviously I was comfortable with the team and where they were, so again we'll see where we are with Axel in terms of him managing.”
