Wolves boss opens up on recruitment plans

Rob Edwards has opened up on Wolves’ recruitment.

Rob Edwards has warned Wolves will not be able to fix everything in one transfer window but admits they are under pressure to get it right this summer.

If Wolves fail to beat Leeds on Saturday afternoon, they could be relegated this weekend depending on results elsewhere.

After a terrible summer of recruitment in 2025, before Edwards was appointed, the head coach knows they will have to get it right before a Championship campaign but admits they are unlikely to tick off everything on their wish list.

“You live and die by your recruitment at a football club, so we need to get the summer right,” he said.

“We knew it was a huge challenge coming in, we’ve had one window and we knew it was never going to be fixed in one window.

“We need time and I think everyone understands that.

“There will be frustration, the supporters will be frustrated, but we’ve made mistakes over a number of years and we need to try and correct that.

“It’s not going to happen in one window, so we have a lot of work to do, but I am encouraged.

“There’s a lot of good people here, some really good planning going on and we have lots of good players here as well that we’d love to be able to work with next year. Time will tell.

”Although we're having a very difficult time, there are some things to look forward to and we can hopefully get the club back to where we believe it can be.”

Edwards was also keen to focus on Wolves’ final six games, starting at Elland Road.

He added: ”You're talking longer term and further down the line and people find it hard to listen to all that at the moment.

“But like I said, I'm encouraged, I'm positive with what we can do with this club over a period of time.

“People want to see the here and the now as well, so we've got to make sure we finish as strongly as possible and the next thing is Leeds.

“We want to return some of the really good times that we've had over this last decade.”
