Report: Former Chelsea outcast wanted by'big'Premier League clubs after transformation

Malang Sarr has completely revitalised his career at RC Lens after his challenging Chelsea exit, with the 27-year-old’s commanding displays in Ligue 1 sparking significant interest.

Malang Sarr’s stint at Chelsea remains a familiar story of a talent caught in a squad transition period that didn’t allow him many opportunities.

Arriving on a free transfer in 2020 as a prospect from Nice, he provided cover during a congested 2021/22 fixture list, notably featuring in the Club World Cup success, but he struggled to carve out a permanent place.

The latter stages of his Chelsea career saw him get sent out on a series of loans, eventually even training away from the senior group as the club pivoted toward a younger, long-term recruitment strategy.

Overall, Sarr made 21 appearances for the Blues across the Champions League, Premier League and several cup competitions before joining Monaco on loan and now his current club RC Lens.

Who are we choosing? Liam Rosenior? Or one of these TWO 👀

Malang Sarr’s rise at RC Lens

Malang Sarr’s move to RC Lens in 2024 has sparked a dramatic career resurgence, transforming the former Chelsea outcast into one of Ligue 1’s most reliable defenders.

Under the guidance of Pierre Sage, the 27-year-old has become the undisputed leader of the Lens backline, starting 27 league matches and amassing over 2,800 minutes this season.

His consistency and elite reading of the game have been pivotal in Lens’ push for Europe.

With ten clean sheets and a contract set to expire this June, it comes as no surprise that Sarr is now a high-value target for Premier League clubs.

However, you can’t help but question Chelsea’s judgement again.
