They wanted to be proactive while respecting Iraola as the current coach, but they identified Rose as a preferred candidate.
In particular, they went for the German for his five seasons’ experience in the Champions League, as well as experience in the Europa League.
His work with then-young talents like Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Manuel Akanji and Dominik Szobozlai was also a draw, boding well for the Bournemouth model of recruitment.
Iraola will leave the Cherries at the end of the season after three campaigns at the helm, and Bournemouth are not far away from securing his replacement.
It is understood there will be no formal announcement any time soon, out of respect for Iraola as current boss.
Rose has won trophies in both Austria and Germany as a manager, taking charge at RB Salzburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
