Report: The Premier League club still in the mix to sign Axel Disasi amid West Ham success

Axel Disasi’s form at West Ham United was always going to attract rival interest in the defender and Fulham are reportedly keen.

Indeed, while signing him on loan from Chelsea after such a lack of action was a risk in January, Disasi has proven to be an excellent player for West Ham United.

The Frenchman has slotted in seamlessly and has formed a big part of the reason why West Ham are looking increasingly likely to stay in the Premier League.

Hammers News understands that Disasi’s future at West Ham is unclear. Should they stay up, perhaps there’s scope to sign him permanently from the Blues.

Still, Fulham are not to be discounted, it seems.

Fulham are in the mix for Disasi this summer

The former Monaco defender has certainly put himself in the shop window with some fine performances here in east London.

As such, it’s perhaps not a surprise then that a club who definitely will be playing Premier League football next season in Fulham are interested in the 28-year-old central defender.

When discussing potential incomings this summer, a source close to the west London club told iNews: “The club are still in the mix for Disasi, but that depends on how much Chelsea would want for him.”

Disasi does seem certain to leave Chelsea this summer – but his next landing spot does remain unclear.

Losing Axel Disasi would be gutting for West Ham United

West Ham have been here before. Jesse Lingard, of course, thrilled on loan at the club a few years ago and a permanent transfer seemed a foregone conclusion.

Lingard, however, opted to go elsewhere and it would be fair to say his top level career has never really recovered from that.

There’s clearly no suggestion that something similar would happen to Disasi, but watching him impress at another club would be rather jarring given it was West Ham who took the risk on signing him from Chelsea’s infamous bomb squad in the first place.

West Ham fans want to sign Disasi permanently but it remains to be seen if that is indeed possible.
