Chelsea might sell Alejandro Garnacho during this year’s transfer window. They recently acquired him from Manchester United, where he was purchased around £40 million last summer. Now, reports say the club may let him leave if good offers come in. Chelsea’s new manager, Liam Rosenior, has some doubts about him.

The Career of Garnacho at Chelsea

Garnacho came to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025. He was seen as a bright, fast attacker with big potential. At just 21 years old, he had already shown his skill at Manchester United and played for Argentina. But his first season at Chelsea has been nothing more than an average football performance. He has played in many games and scored eight goals in all competitions.

However, he has only scored once in the Premier League. He has not become a regular starter, and some supporters feel he has not lived up to the big price tag yet. Liam Rosenior took over as Chelsea manager in January 2026 and since then, he has given Garnacho only a few starts in the league. He often picks other players, like Pedro Neto, for the left side.

According to the reports, Rosenior has tactical reservations about Garnacho. This means he is unsure on how the young winger fits into his team plans. Rosenior has spoken kindly about Garnacho’s talent and called him a player with “**huge ability and potential.**” However, due to the change in the style of the team, Garnacho has not always been able to match it perfectly.

In one recent match against PSG, Rosenior even passed a note to Garnacho on the pitch. This portrayed that things were not going well. Moreover, it showed he was trying to guide the young player. However, it also highlighted that Garnacho is still learning. Garnacho has started only around four Premier League games under Rosenior. This limited role has led to questions about his long term future at the club.

Chelsea Open to Offers

Chelsea’s bosses are now ready to listen to offers for Garnacho this summer. They believe other clubs may pay close to the £40 million they spent. The club thinks the market for left wingers has improved. So, they may want to bring in someone who fits Rosenior’s ideas better.

It is not clear if Garnacho wants to leave. Garnacho moved to Chelsea with hope for more playing time and a clean slate. However, long hours on the bench may let him find another team that will provide him regular playing time. The possible buyers could include clubs needing a young, exciting winger. However, nothing is decided yet as the Blues will wait to see what offers arrive before making a final choice.

What This Means for Garnacho and the Blues?

Garnacho has suffered a setback in his big transfer decision from Manchester United. He has plenty of time (21 years old) to develop into an established player, but some means of getting into a competitive playing environment (loan or transfer) might prove useful. For Chelsea, selling him quickly could help free up money and squad space for new signings.

Garnacho might still fight for his place and win over his manager. But right now, the reports suggest both sides may be ready for a change this summer. In short, Chelsea’s openness to sell Garnacho and Rosenior’s reservations show that the player’s first season has not gone as planned.
