Arsenal loanee Ethan Nwaneri is facing a difficult situation at Marseille. Recently, his loan spell has been a bit troublesome. Some media reports have revealed the real reason behind the issues.
How has been the life of Ethan Nwaneri so far at Marseille?
Ethan Nwaneri, is a 19-year-old hot young talent who emerged from the academy of Arsenal. He played as an attacking midfielder or a bit up top in the junior ranks. His talent and skills were identified by the club very early. So he got to made his debut for the first team in Premier League in 2022. He was just 15 years old at that time.
But he was not pushed to become a starter in the senior team immediately. The club was cautious and patient about the England U-21 international. Nwaneri went on to play for the U-21 team and trained himself. Nwaneri scored his first Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest in November 2024. At 17, he became one of the youngest players to score a goal in EPL.
The Gunners were well aware of his quality and potential. But Mikel Arteta did not give him enough game time. Still he is very young. So, Arsenal decided to loan him out to gain some experience. In January transfer window, he was sent to to Olympique de Marseille on a six month loan until the end of the season. He started his journey in a decent manner. But with team, the young midfielder was unable to get a place in the starting eleven. He has been an unused substitute in some matches. Marseille coach, Habib Beye has limited his game time.

As per reports, writer Matt Spiro has reported that Ethan Nwaneri is not having a good attitude. There have been indications that he is developing a bad mindset towards his work. For this reason, coach Habib Beye has decided to keep him out of the team.
In the recent weeks, it has been evident that Ethan Nwaneri has seen himself out of the playing eleven. He was introduced from the bench in 2 out of these 5 games. Ethan’s loan fee has been reportedly bound to his game time. The more minutes he will play, the less money Marseille will have to pay Arsenal for the football player. Nevertheless, Nwaneri has not been in the first eleven for 2 months.
The Marseille manager has given importance to a player’s attitude. The Senegalese coach has sensed a bit of “nonchalance” in the youngster. Nwaneri’s work ethic has not convinced the coach. The London boy does not show his hunger and hardwork on the field and on training ground. He does not care if Marseille have to pay more money for this decision.

At present, Habib Beye has apparently zoned him out of the Marseille team. Arteta was reluctant to give him chance at Emirates too. The Arsenal graduate has been unable to impress his coaches.
