Alan Shearer Predicts The Result As Man City Face Arsenal

BBC pundit Alan Shearer is backing Man City to secure all three points against Arsenal on Sunday evening.

Writing in his prediction column for Metro, the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer said the momentum is very much with Pep Guardiola’s side:

“I think a draw would be a good result for Arsenal, but I think City might have too much for them. Arteta knows there’s been no panic from Pep, has there?”

“It’s always been pretty consistent, and they always come good at this time of the year, and it looks as if they are. They’ve won their first trophy and could even end up getting the treble.”

“I just think with the momentum that they’ve got and the confidence that they’ve got, I think they might have too much.”

“It’d be really interesting to see what Arsenal do, whether they sort of sit back or try to take the game to City, but I think City might just have too much for them.”

A win for Man City would be massive

If Guardiola’s men do come out on top this weekend, you would have to make them favourites to go on and win the Premier League title.

While they would still be three points behind the leaders, they have a game in hand, which is at home to Crystal Palace, who have nothing to play for domestically.

If both teams were to win all of their remaining fixtures after Sunday’s fixture, the Cityzens would probably finish top on goal difference.

Guardiola has confirmed that Ruben Dias is still unavailable, with John Stones and Josko Gvardiol not expected to be in contention either, but Nico O’Reilly is fit, despite picking up a suspected hamstring injury during the 3-0 win over Chelsea last weekend.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will be without Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino. Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are touch-and-go in terms of whether they will be involved.
