The Basque boss was quoted in 2023 praising Rose and his football, and the former RB Leipzig boss is the frontrunner for the job in Dorset when Iraola departs, as reported.

Asked his thoughts on Rose as a coach, though, Iraola did not comment and said, laughing: “I cannot speak!
“I think I'm not involved, obviously, because we have confidence, we know things, but no, I cannot speak about it.
“If, when they announce whoever is the manager, I will definitely tell you what I think, but no, I cannot speak right now!”
Rose’s sides have historically played in a similar manner to Iraola’s teams, with Iraola saying he appreciated the way attackers pressed from the front under Rose in the aforementioned 2023 interview.

Asked if he felt it was the right call to hire a boss that would be a continuation of his tactical approach, Iraola said: “In this case, it doesn't matter what I think.
“I think they know very well the team, the players. And I think we are in very good hands. The club is in very good hands.
“If I was a supporter, I would trust 100 per cent the decision makers in this club. And it's not my turn. I'm the one who comes here to speak, but I cannot talk about all these things, I'm sorry.”
Iraola praised president of football operations Tiago Pinto and technical director Simon Francis, and said: “They are top people, top guys, but the professionals, and they are very ready.
“They are very ready for this situation, and they will sign a top manager, 100 per cent.”
