“They’re still not..” – Rob Edwards makes honest Leeds United relegation claim

Leeds United host Wolves this afternoon looking to hammer home our survival advantage with successive wins.

The mood inside Elland Road will be incredibly high today, welcoming the squad back to home turf after iconic back-to-back results.

Not only have we got to Wembley since our last home game, but we’ve just beat Man Utd at Old Trafford to move six clear of the drop.

“He’s a brilliant manager” – Rob Edwards waxes lyrical about Leeds United ahead of Wolves clash

For Leeds, it’s a game we all know we should be winning. Wolves come to West Yorkshire today facing imminent relegation, and their fate could be sealed this evening if they lose and other results don’t go their way.

For Rob Edwards, he’s well aware of the task at hand this afternoon. Previewing the game, he had nothing but praise for Leeds and Daniel Farke, making a bold claim about our performances of late.

“He’s a brilliant manager, first and foremost,” Edwards told the Wolves site. “They’ve done a great job, and consistently for a long time now their performance levels have been above where they actually are in the league. They’ve done great, have some really good players, they’ve got a great way of playing, very aggressive, really dynamic, quick, loads of intensity.”

Edwards believes Leeds should be sitting prettier than we currently are. A six-point gap to the bottom three could well become nine, though, if we get our job done.

The Wolves boss expects a difficult game in LS11 this afternoon.

“He will have enjoyed this year with the way they’ve gone about things, and I know they’re still not over the line yet, but they’ve put themselves in a good position,” Edwards continued.

“It’s going to be a very challenging game, but our players know all this, and we’re looking forward to it as well, so it should be good going up to Elland Road, it’s always a really good atmosphere there and they’ll be buoyed by the result from their last time out away at Man United.”

Must-win for Leeds United against Wolves – We need to nail our place in the Premier League

When everyone, Leeds fans like myself included, talked of our favourable home games, this is what we meant.

A home fixture against a side on the brink of relegation, and down in the dumps, is exactly what we need to pick up valuable points.

Getting to 39 points with five games to play would be massive for our survival.

You can almost see the finishing line now. It’s all about getting the job done professionally, to the same standard we have ever since half-time at Man City.
