Alan Shearer and Anthony Gordon have endured a frosty relationship in recent months.
Alan Shearer believes Newcastle United should sell Anthony Gordon if he is not fully committed to the club.
Various sources earlier this week indicated that the winger is seeking to leave the Magpies this summer. Gordon - who boasts 17 goals across all competitions in 2025-26 - has not commented publicly on his future.
It is understood that Newcastle are keen to avoid another Alexander Isak situation. The aftermath of last summer is still being felt today and, as a result, anyone who wishes to leave will be allowed to do so - provided their price tags are met.

Alan Shearer and Anthony Gordon beef
Suggestions that Gordon wants to leave has irked Toon icon Shearer. The duo have exchanged words this season, with the former striker questioning Gordon’s illness before the 1-1 draw with Barcelona at St James’ Park.
This provoked the 25-year-old to fire back at the “nonsense” after scoring against Chelsea days later. Eddie Howe also moved to clarify that it was his decision to bench Gordon for the Champions League tie.
Minor swipes include Gordon snubbing Shearer while discussing England’s all-time greatest player. Speaking ahead of the clash with Bournemouth, the feud reignited after the recent transfer speculation.
Alan Shearer questions Anthony Gordon commitment
“I don’t know what Anthony Gordon’s feelings are but I always say, if someone doesn’t want to be here, then you have to get them out,” Shearer said. “I don’t know whether he wants that or not. I honestly don’t know, only he can answer that.“I said it with the Isak situation. If someone doesn’t want to be there, you’re better off getting someone out, and getting someone in who wants to be there who is 100 per cent committed. I’m not saying Gordon isn’t, I’m just saying only he can answer that. If he doesn’t, then he has to be sold.”
Eddie Howe backs Newcastle United duo
When discussing Gordon and Sandro Tonali - who has also been linked with a potential exit - Howe insisted he only picks players if they are 100 per cent committed. He told reporters: “I discuss things with players all the time. I don't necessarily discuss transfer speculation unless I feel it's got to a point where I have to. After I had the chat with Sandro, I think the biggest thing I look for is the commitment to training because I think if I see the commitment to the training ground work, the player will perform.
“That will be the same with Anthony. That will be the same with every player. One thing I'm not going to do is play a player, any player, if I don't feel they're 100 per cent committed to the club and to its future. Because that commitment, that resolve, what the player gives the team has to be total.
“I'm not talking about Anthony here, I'm talking generally across the board. I've always got to do what I think is right for the team and I'll continue to do that.”
