Arsenal told to meet€60m valuation for defender–Gunners willing to make serious moves

Andrea Cambiaso

Andrea Cambiaso of Italy (Juventus) looks during the UEFA Nations League 2024 match between Italy – Belgium at the Olimpico stadium, Rome, Italy October 10, 2023.

Andrea Cambiaso has previously been linked with a move to Manchester City and Arsenal are now in the mix for the defender.

Sport Witness covered the saga around the Citizens extensively last year. Pep Guardiola’s side appeared serious and made initial contact, but Juve’s valuation remained high.

Since then, things have been up and down. He struggled earlier in the campaign, but improved under Luciano Spalletti, and has been a key player in recent weeks.

Arsenal’s interest in the defender is growing, with the Gunners appearing keen on a move.

Valuation now clear

TuttoJuve report that Arsenal’s move is in the preliminary stages, with the outlet appearing to hint at initial contact. It is indicated that things can move forward, even if Juve aren’t keen on making a sale.

Spalletti sees Cambiaso as an important part of his team, but the Old Lady’s price tag is currently €60m. This will hand them a massive capital gain and give them enough funds to sign a replacement.

A sale can become important for the Bianconeri, especially if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. They are currently fourth in the table but were fifth last week.

As of now, Arsenal haven’t gone beyond €40m but they will have to bump up to have a chance to sign him.

Our take: Deal will make sense for the Gunners

Cambiaso can fill in a lot of spots due to his versatility. He has previously played out wide on either side, also doing equally well at full-back. At Bologna and Genoa, he also played centrally.

This makes him a utility player who adds a lot of value to any squad. That is probably why Manchester City wanted him.

The current price tag is probably a bit too much, as things stand. It was much lower last summer and that is why Arsenal should be seeking a discount.
