Chelsea in pre-summer talks with agents of Sunderland star in big blow for Le Bris

Chelsea are now in active negotiations with the agents of Sunderland star Noah Sadiki, having been tracking the midfielder since December.

Chelsea launch approach to sign Sadiki

It feels like Groundhog Day at Cheslea. One year since they splashed the cash on several young stars in the hope of keeping hold of their top four place, there's little sign that a number of those players will ever reach their full potential at Stamford Bridge. It's been rinse and repeat from BlueCo ever since arriving.

The Blues will stick with Rosenior and make two key signings.

What has made matters worse is the arrival of Liam Rosenior in place of Enzo Maresca. Not even those in the dressing room have hidden their feelings about the managerial change and the likes of Enzo Fernandes have stolen plenty of unwanted headlines as a result.

It would be another damning moment for Todd Boehly if Chelsea decided to move on from yet another manager this summer, before hoping to finally get their recruitment right.

Of course, with or without Rosenior, the show will go on this summer and key reinforcements could arrive. Just who those reinforcements will be is the big question.

Recent reports suggest that the first priority could be a Premier League star. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea are actively negotiating a move to sign Sadiki from Sunderland, opening new talks with his camp ahead of this summer.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an excellent debut season in English football after arriving for £17m last summer, doing enough to attract interest from those at Chelsea and Manchester United.

Chelsea must not rush Sadiki move

The Blues have been here before ahead of the transfer window. They've jumped the gun several times in recent years, welcoming young players who are simply not ready for a big move.

The Blues are keen on an "outstanding" player.

Lesley Ugochukwu is a prime example. He's now at Burnley almost three years on from his Chelsea move. Romeo Lavia is another example. Injuries haven't helped, but it's difficult to see how he's got a long-term future at the club.

Now, Sadiki must not be next. After just one season in the Premier League, Chelsea should keep their patience and allow the Congo midfielder to develop away from the biggest spotlight. Then, they can eventually welcome a player ready to take West London by storm.

Interest from BlueCo will come as no surprise to Ben Mattinson. The Como scout compared Sadiki to Moises Caicedo last year and there's no doubt that Chelsea will be keen to repeat one of their only transfer successes as of late.
