Paul Scholes and Gary Neville disagreed with Roy Keane’s pick of Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney as the Premier League’s best striker of all time.
Wayne Rooney is considered one of the best strikers in the history of the Premier League after his sensational impact at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Roy Keane played alongside Man Utd’s all-time leading scorer in the tail end of his iconic Old Trafford spell before his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson fractured.
Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, on the other hand, shared the pitch with United legend Rooney at both club level and with the England national team for some time.

Man Utd legend Roy Keane picks Wayne Rooney as the best Premier League striker in history ahead of four other legends
Wayne Rooney netted an incredible 253 times in 559 matches for the Red Devils after former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson signed him from Everton.
The former Man Utd captain’s stunning goalscoring exploits saw Rooney eclipse England legend Sir Bobby Charlton to become the club’s record goalscorer.

Roy Keane was asked who he thinks is the best Premier League striker of all time and the Man Utd icon initially questioned if Rooney would be classed as a ‘striker.’
Speaking on The Overlap, the legendary former Red Devils skipper ultimately settled on Rooney ahead of Harry Kane, Alan Shearer, Ian Wright and Thierry Henry.
“A striker? Shearer, Kane, Henry,” Keane said, before adding: “Are we classing Wayne Rooney as a striker?”
The former Man Utd midfielder added: “Wrighty, he’s in the mix. For all his [Rooney] goals at United, I’d probably go with… I’d have to go with Wayne.”

Paul Scholes and Gary Neville snub Wayne Rooney in the Premier League ‘GOAT’ striker debate
Paul Scholes snubbed Rooney and put former Man Utd teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy in the running for the ‘GOAT’ Premier League striking debate.
However, the 51-year-old Man Utd icon eventually settled on Arsenal legend Thierry Henry ahead of Ruud van Nistelrooy for his Premier League striker pick.
“I love Ruud. Henry. Henry. Thierry Henry,” Scholes said.
Neville did namecheck Rooney during his turn, but the United legend picked Alan Shearer because the question was around ‘striker’ over Premier League ‘forward.’
“You’ve used the word ‘striker,’” he said.
“If you’d had said ‘forward,’ I would’ve said Wayne Rooney. You’ve said striker, so I’m going to say Alan Shearer.”
Rooney has lifted five Premier League trophies, a Champions League trophy, a Europa League title, an FA Cup and three League Cups with Man Utd.
