Moises Caicedo Reveals Ambition at Chelsea After Penning Contract Extension Until 2033

Moises Caicedo has made it clear that he wants to become a Chelsea legend in West London after signing a long-term deal with the club. The 24-year-old has signed a new deal with Chelsea that will keep him there until June 2033. This is an extra two years on top of his previous eight-year deal. His current contract was set to end in 2031, with the option for another season.

However, after a string of important performances, the Blues have decided to give their midfield linchpin a huge pay rise. Caicedo came to Brighton in 2023 for an initial £100 million, which went up to £115 million. Since moving, the tough midfield anchor has played 140 times for the club, including 42 times this season from a defensive midfield position, scoring five goals. He was also a key player in last season’s Conference League and Club World Cup wins. After signing the long-term extension, Caicedo said:

“I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together. There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day.”

He continued:

“I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans. We have enjoyed some great times together already and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen.”

That statement puts an end to rumours that the Ecuadorian international could join Real Madrid, who had Caicedo on their list of top candidates to strengthen their midfield this summer.

Chelsea Plans More Extensions After Securing Caicedo’s Future

The Blues are moving forward with plans to keep the rest of their core group under head coach Liam Rosenior, now that Caicedo’s renewal is complete. Reece James, the club’s captain, has already signed a new deal. Levi Colwill is also in line for an extension, and Enzo Fernandez could get better terms on his contract, which already runs until 2032.

The Stamford Bridge team has used an incentive-based structure, in which better terms are offered for meeting performance goals such as qualifying for the Champions League. The sixth-placed Blues must still finish in the top five, starting with their home game against Manchester United on Saturday.
