Massive Leeds Win Throws-up Spurs Conundrum

Well, [Leeds United](https://www.claretandhugh.info/leeds-united-bio/) might have built something of a reputation for thriving under the lights at Elland Road.

But they didn’t look too shabby in the sunshine either in today’s [Premier League](https://www.claretandhugh.info/premier-league-bio/) clash, as they flew out of the blocks against Wolves.

It looked like men against boys early on, with Daniel Farke’s side swarming all over Wanderers. It came as little surprise when they took the lead, with James Justin producing an overhead kick to cap a dominant start.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a sitter, and Wolves had already scrambled one off the line as Leeds piled on the pressure.

Leeds Win Adds Pressure on West Ham

-----------------------------------

The game was effectively over inside 20 minutes when Okafor grabbed a second, moving Leeds onto 39 points and all but securing their safety — in truth, they may already have enough. The second half saw the home team play in second gear and Wolves had their moments. But a 93rd min penalty sealed the deal for the Yorkshire club who won 3-0.

For West Ham, it leaves an awkward scenario

-------------------------------------------

Tottenham still have to face a Leeds side who could already be safe by then — and potentially with one eye on an FA Cup semi-final just days later. More worryingly, Spurs also get to play a Wolves team who look truly awful despite a late flurry in the second half.

It’s another twist in a relegation battle that seems to shift with every passing result — and not always in West Ham’s favour. Spurs face Brighton in the 5:30 kick off today, should they fail to win and the Hammers pick up a win at Selhurst Park on Monday, it will leave Roberto De Zerbie’s team hot favourites for the drop.
