NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):
5 Ramsdale: Didn’t really have a chance with either goal, but didn’t convince when the ball was crossed into the box
4 Livramento: Was beaten to the ball by Tavernier for Bournemouth’s goal, with his day taking another turn for the worse when he was forced off injured
5 Thiaw: The pick of the Newcastle defence, although that wasn’t saying a lot – won a number of headers
4 Botman: Looked shaky all afternoon as he struggled to get to grips with Bournemouth’s attackers
4 Hall: Beaten far too easily by Rayan as the winger set up Bournemouth’s opener and was substituted at the break
5 Miley: Showed plenty of energy but lacked composure on the ball – is probably still feeling his way back to full match sharpness
5 Tonali: Wasn’t able to dominate the midfield and didn’t really threaten Bournemouth’s 18-yard box
4 Ramsey: Far too passive as Newcastle were supposed to be chasing the game – failed to offer anything going forward
3 Elanga: Even by the incredibly low bar he has set this season, this was a remarkably poor showing – kept on giving the ball away
6 Osula: His goal came from nowhere, but it was extremely well taken as he turned neatly before firing home
4 Barnes: Disappointing – failed to take the game to the Bournemouth defence as he repeatedly took the easy option
Subs:
6 Trippier (for Hall, 46): Added a bit of composure after he came on – will be back in the side if Livramento’s injury is a serious one
5 J Murphy (for Elanga, 62): Didn’t add a lot and failed to find the target with a long-range strike
6 GUIMARAES (for Ramsey, 62): How Newcastle have missed his drive and energy – showed what he brings to the team
Burn (for Livramento, 74)
Woltemade (for Tonali, 87)
(not used): Pope (gk), A Murphy, Willock, Wissa.
