Chelsea host Manchester United on what could be a defining night in the battle for a Premier League top five finish.
Under Michael Carrick’s steady guidance, United appeared to be firmly back on track and on course to confirming their return to the Champions League next season.
A dismal defeat at home to Leeds United on Monday however exposed some familiar old problems. United have also arrived in west London without four of their five available centre-halves and are in danger of losing momentum when they need it most.
Chelsea need a lift themselves. Three consecutive defeats in the league has left them in sixth place with a swift turnaround needed if they want Champions League football next season.
Metro’s LIVE matchday blog will bring you all the build-up, confirmed team news and starting XIs, goal updates and minute-by-minute coverage.

Team news will land in around 15 minutes or so. What we already know is that Manchester United are dealing with a defensive crisis with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez both suspended, while Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu are still out.
Ayden Heaven is United’s only fit centre-back and he is expected to start alongside either Luke Shaw or Noussair Mazraoui in central defence.
