FC Barcelona put in a very strong fight to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie in the second leg, and were able to tie the scores at one point in the game. However, Atletico Madrid regained their lead in the first half, and went on to win the tie on aggregate.
One of the two goals scored by the Catalans on the night came from Ferran Torres, who finally seems to be finding his finishing touch after quite a long barren run.
He was one of the best players for the Blaugranes on the night. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, he was the only Barcelona player to make the UCL Team of the Week, even though Dani Olmo was named the MVP of the second leg.
The Team of the Week was set up in a 3-4-3 formation and is as follows:
Goalkeeper
Juan Musso (Atlético Madrid)
Defenders
Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)
Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich)
Eduardo Quaresma (Sporting Lisbon)
Midfielders
Arda Güler (Real Madrid)
Martín Zubimendi (Arsenal)
Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)
Marcos Llorente (Atlético Madrid)
Forwards
Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint-Germain)
Ferran Torres (Barcelona)
Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)
Olise was ultimately chosen as the standout player of the week after his decisive impact in Bayern Munich’s thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Real Madrid. PSG also had strong representation through Marquinhos and Dembélé.
With their UCL journey over, hopefully, Ferran Torres will continue to showcase his talent for Barcelona in the remaining La Liga matches.
