Man Utd ratings vs Chelsea, Mainoo return powers Carrick as 8/10 teammate steals the show

Manchester United can almost hear the Champions League music at Old Trafford after a 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea dominated possession in the first half and created some openings, but that seemed to be Michael Carrick’s game plan.

It paid off when they repelled Chelsea successfully and struck through Matheus Cunha in the first half via Bruno Fernandes‘ 18th assist of the league season.

Chelsea came back hard in the second half and struck the post twice, but United defended their box well to come away with a hard-fought victory at Stamford Bridge.

Man Utd have beaten Chelsea 1-0 – What is your INSTANT REACTION?

What did you think of the performance?

Senne Lammens – 7

Claimed some high balls to inspire confidence. Could have done better with one shot, but that’s the standard he has set for himself.

Diogo Dalot – 7

Better suited than Mazraoui to provide an attacking outlet. Dominated his duel with Garnacho.

Noussair Mazraoui – 7

Shepherded Heaven with calmness and drove forward on occasion with purpose. Suited him.

Ayden Heaven – 6

A bit too eager at times to make an impact, which led to erratic defending. Better otherwise.

Luke Shaw – 6.5

A nervy mistake early on put Heaven in trouble. Improved as the game went on.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7.5

United sorely missed his connecting abilities and short-passing to escape the press.

Casemiro – 5

Struggled to get up to the pace of the game, often leaving Mainoo isolated in midfield.

Bryan Mbeumo – 7

Did well to run off the last man and stretch Chelsea’s defence.

Bruno Fernandes – 8

Captain Fantastic came up with the goods again with the assist for Cunha. 18 now.

Matheus Cunha – 7.5

Redeemed his first-half mistake to score a brilliant goal to set United on their way.

Benjamin Sesko – 6

Largely anonymous but played an underrated role in United’s opener by occupying Caicedo.

Substitutes

Mason Mount – 5

Struggled to get going amid a chorus of boos from Chelsea fans for his every touch. Needless free-kick conceded late with a handball to ensure a nervy end.
