Manchester United have taken a huge step towards securing Champions League football after beating top-five rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It was a superb display from United, given their defensive absentees, and their favourable upcoming games compared to rivals suggest a spot in the Champions League is all but confirmed.
There is still a job to do, but achieving that certainly got easier when Cunha opened the scoring in west London with a smart first-time finish from Bruno Fernandes' low cross just before half-time. The Blues had their chances to equalise in the second 45, with Senne Lammens' crossbar struck twice, but they could not find a way through.
10 points now separate the two teams, with United needing a victory against Brentford in their next game to guarantee a top-five finish if Chelsea do not beat Brighton on Tuesday.
