Arsenal willing to "make serious moves" to sign £52m Juventus star

Arsenal are planning to swoop for Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso during the summer transfer window, according to Italian outlet Tuttojuve.

The Gunners are preparing for another spending spree this summer, and it is claimed that the club are exploring a new left-back to add to the squad.

Cambiaso has emerged as a fresh target. Arsenal are willing to ‘make serious moves’ for the Italian and could spend around £35 million for his services.

However, Juventus may not entertain his sale unless they receive at least £52m on the table.

Arsenal could utilise Cambiaso in both full-back roles

Cambiaso is predominantly left-footed but highly ambipedal. He has made more than 100 appearances as a right-back and right wing-back in his career.

The Italian can cross or pass with either foot to a high standard. This could be a prime reason behind the Gunners’ interest in signing the former Genoa man.

Arsenal are preparing for the potential departure of Ben White this summer. The right-back will enter the last two years of his contract and could be sold for a reasonable price.

The club have also opened the door for the departure of left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has become the third-choice in the position behind Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori.

Cambiaso would be a good addition to the ranks. The versatile full-back has a passing accuracy of 88 per cent in Serie A this campaign, averaging two tackles and four recoveries per game.

The Italian has also made seven goal contributions for the Bianconeri. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can persuade Juventus to lower their valuation for the 26-year-old.

The Gunners may want to negotiate personal terms with the player first. Cambiaso would need to accept a rotational starting role next season if he were to arrive from Turin this summer.
