‘I don’t see anything that has to hold you’ – Arteta on dealing with the pressure of the title race ahead of Man City…

Mikel Arteta says his Arsenal players do not need to be “held” by any pressure ahead of their game against title rivals Manchester City.

City are six points behind Arsenal going into the game having played a game less, and are in stronger form than the Gunners, who have won just one of the last five games.

But asked about the challenges of dealing with the pressure, Arteta says his players should remind themselves that this is exactly the position they want to be in.

“This is exactly where we want to be and this brings a lot of positive things,” he said.

“I don’t see anything that has to hold you because it’s where you want to be in the period, that you want to be playing against an opponent that requires the best out of you. So it doesn’t get much better than that.”

Asked for his final message to his players ahead of the clash, Arteta responded: “Go for it. Let’s be ourselves and let go for it. Put everything that we have on that pitch, huge belief, huge conviction and go for it because we are more than capable of doing it.”
