Liam Rosenior Unsure About Consequences if Chelsea Miss Out on Champions League

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has admitted that he doesn’t know what will happen to his team if they don’t make it to the Champions League this season. The Blues lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United on Saturday night at Stamford Bridge, putting their hopes of finishing in the top five on very thin ice.

Matheus Cunha’s goal just before half-time was the difference as Chelsea lost their fourth straight Premier League game without scoring. The loss puts the Blues 10 points behind United, who are in third place, and four points behind Liverpool, who are in fifth place and have a game in hand before their Merseyside derby with Everton.

Before the game, fans protested against BlueCo’s ownership, and at the end of the game, boos rang out around Stamford Bridge. During his post-match press conference, Rosenior gave an honest assessment of the uncertainty that is currently hanging over Stamford Bridge:

“The honest answer is I don’t know. The honest answer is we’re still fighting and we will address that situation at the end of the season, whatever the situation is.”

If Chelsea miss out on Europe’s top competition, it will not only make it harder for them to get new players, but it could also make key players leave the team sooner. BlueCo are said to have lost about £630 million last year, and not getting into the Champions League could cost the club at least £100 million in lost revenue. Rosenior, on the other hand, is sure that the problem can be solved, even though there are still six games to go.

Cole Palmer Committed to Chelsea Project

Cole Palmer has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea amid persistent speculation about a return to Manchester. The 23-year-old England international, who signed a two-year extension to his contract at Stamford Bridge in 2024, denied feeling homesick in a candid interview with The Guardian before Saturday’s match against Manchester United.

Palmer, who is thought to be one of Chelsea’s “untouchables” along with Reece James and Moises Caicedo, said that qualifying for the Champions League remains very important to the club’s summer recruitment goals. He said that speaking with co-owner Behdad Eghbali has eased his mind about the quality of the new targets, as the Blues prepare to pursue more experienced Premier League players.

The next two weeks could make or break Chelsea’s whole season. They will play Brighton on Tuesday and Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on April 26.
