Bruno Fernandes was in top form for Manchester United during Saturday night’s victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Michael Carrick admitted the importance of Manchester United’s 1-0 win after the game, stating it is a big deal, and for the Champions League race, it definitely was.
Bruno Fernandes was the star of Carrick’s side, assisting the only goal of the game, while it was otherwise a complete captain’s performance by the Portuguese midfielder.
Fernandes put in a shift to help his teammates, such as Casemiro, given the lack of mobility. But going back to the assist, he did something not many would think him capable of.

Bruno Fernandes’ wing-play for Manchester United assist
Fernandes snatched his 18th assist of the season for United against Chelsea, now finding himself just two from the record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne.
He has five games to break the record, but with moments like the assist against Chelsea, Fernandes may well smash through that historic landmark.
The pass to Matheus Cunha was sensational, but equally impressive was how Fernandes managed to get into that position in the first place.

It was top-class wing-play as Fernandes dribbled down the right beyond Marc Cucurella and a hopeless Alejandro Garnacho.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Ally McCoist commented on this moment.
“He runs in behind, takes a great touch, and it was too easy to get by Garnacho. Excellent pass and a beautifully composed finish. Cunha leaves Sanchez no chance.”
Fernandes still has the mobility, speed, and strength to get down the wing beyond two quick players before delivering an inch-perfect ball, and it’s a quality of his that wouldn’t normally be hailed.
But the Portuguese magnifico continues to surprise.
ANOTHER assist for Bruno Fernandes! Surely now he breaks the record!!!

Owen Hargreaves hails the performances of Bruno Fernandes
It was the latest performance from Fernandes that emphasised how United cannot let him leave this summer.
Speaking on TNT Sports after the game, Owen Hargreaves hailed just how brilliant he is for his moment.
“Bruno Fernandes, he’ll be up for Player of the Year this season, he just creates big moments.
“He was the architect today, best player on the pitch by a mile, and obviously with Cunha finishing up, it feels like Champions League football is coming back to Manchester United.”
“He’s the best player in the Premier League. He’s been fabulous in terms of creation and assists.”
Fernandes has been absolutely incredible this season and would be a deserving Player of the Year winner; he just has to keep it up for five more games.
