Enough is enough: Carrick now has perfect chance to replace Mbeumo with Man Utd's new Garnacho…

Manchester United picked up an impressive win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but Bryan Mbeumo was once again one of their worst performers on the night.

United knew they needed to bounce back from Monday night's poor performance and result against Leeds United when they faced Liam Rosenior's men in London.

The game took on extra significance too for both clubs, knowing that a top-five finish will be enough to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Red Devils went into the match in third position and seven points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea, and left the capital with a 10-point advantage over the Blues with just five games to play after Matheus Cunha's first-half winner.

If United carry on as they are right now in terms of form, they will confirm their Champions League spot before the end of the campaign, which would be a massive boost for Carrick's chances of getting the job permanently.

In addition, it will also provide the club with a huge financial boost ahead of what promises to be another busy summer transfer window with a number of new faces expected to arrive at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo Disappoints Again at Chelsea

After six successive Premier League starts without a goal, and the majority of them coming with Bryan Mbeumo playing as a striker, the former Brentford man was dropped to the substitutes' bench against Leeds on Monday night.

Amad Diallo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha made up the front three against Daniel Farke's men, but it didn't prove to be the right recipe for success on the night as they failed to make a major impact on proceedings, and Carrick's side were beaten 2-1.

The 44-year-old interim boss decided to replace Amad with Mbeumo at Stamford Bridge, but it was another disappointing display by the Cameroon international.

One site gave him a 3/10 rating for his display in the capital, describing it as a 'difficult' evening for the 26-year-old as nothing really stuck for him.

Amad Needs to Return Against Brentford

While Matheus Cunha continues to impress in attack for United, Carrick is struggling to find a front three who are all in top form at the same time right now, with Sesko also not having his best game at the Bridge.

It leaves the 44-year-old with a big selection decision to make ahead of the visit of Brentford to Old Trafford a week on Monday.

While Mbeumo now going six matches without a goal or an assist, Carrick should once again drop him to the bench at home and unleash Amad against a Brentford side who have the12th best away record in the Premier League.

Amad has started to become United's new Alejandro Garnacho this season, given he is a forward who fans like, but is ultimately failing to contribute consistently in terms of goal contributions.

He does deserve some slack though, given he often played as a wing-back in Ruben Amorim's system. but he also needs to deliver in a more attacking formation under Carrick.

Sesko hasn't been brilliant in his two recent starts, but he is still in the best goalscoring form of all the forwards, with five goals in his last 10 Premier League outings.

A front three of Cunha, Sesko and Amad deserves another outing against the Bees next time out to make amends for what happened against Leeds, with Mbeumo taking further time out of the XI to give him time to regain some form.
