Florian Plettenberg shares Anthony Gordon transfer latest amid Arsenal and Liverpool links

Anthony Gordon remains in Bayern Munich’s sights but they may have a challenge on their hands to agree a deal with Newcastle United.

Even this far out from the summer transfer window, Gordon has been linked with a move from Newcastle United to Bayern.

As if we’d ever accept £60m! 😂

At this stage, Gordon certainly seems as if he could be one of the star players that Newcastle United need to sell after a difficult season for the club.

Now, more claims from a German football expert in the form of Florian Plettenberg have emerged.

Liverpool and Bayern face battle to convince Newcastle to sell Gordon

The Sky Sports Germany writer issued an update on social media platform X after Gordon missed Newcastle’s defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.

He wrote: “FC Bayern aren’t giving up on Anthony Gordon because there’s a realistic chance he could move this summer. He is their top target for the left wing, as revealed. Personal terms are not an issue – the key factor is reaching an agreement with Newcastle.

“Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested. NUFC Gordon was not in the squad today vs Bournemouth.”

Much was made about the fact that the 25-year-old wasn’t in the squad for that loss after Howe had said he didn’t want to play anyone who wasn’t committed to the cause, but the forward had simply suffered a hip injury that could also rule him out of next week’s Arsenal game.

Hard choice – but who are you selling if you were in charge? 🤔

Plettenberg suggests that Bayern are not giving up in their pursuit of the former Everton star, and that personal terms are not likely to be much of an issue if the deal ever got to that stage.

The challenge, however, is striking a deal with Newcastle – who proved with Alexander Isak that they can drive a hard bargain.

The noted transfer insider also adds that Liverpool are keen on Gordon, which could see him reunite with Isak at Anfield.

Arsenal also want to sign Anthony Gordon

Geordie Boot Boys has been told that Arsenal hold a long-term interest in Gordon, although it remains to be seen if they would be willing to get into a bidding war.

There is no suggestion that Gordon is definitely leaving Newcastle of course, just that it is starting to feel that way amid so much transfer speculation.

It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens with the likes of Gordon. This Newcastle team look to have drifted to an ugly end of a cycle and change should now be embraced.

Gordon isn’t alone on that front but, right now, he’s surely looking like one of the most likely to leave.
