Newcastle United forward Will Osula made headlines last month for his incredible winning goal against Manchester United at St James' Park.

With the tie evenly poised at 1-1, the 22-year-old was brought on from the bench and produced a moment of brilliance in the final minute of the game, creating space with a clever step over before whipping the ball left-footed around Harry Maguire and past goalkeeper Senne Lammens into the back of the net.

It sent St James' Park into raptures and sealed a crucial three points despite Newcastle going down to 10 men after Jacob Ramsey's first half red card. The goal was also recently awarded the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for March.

Football has a funny way of haunting you and 12 years after Manchester United posted a fairly innocuous tweet, it did just that again at St James' Park.

Quickly after full-time, eagle eyed Newcastle fans spotted a historical post from Manchester United that mentioned his exploits as an 11-year-old.

Osula was crowned the winner of the MU Soccer Schools World Skills Final on the Old Trafford pitch back in November 2014 and was presented with his award by Manchester United legends Bryan Robson and Gary Pallister.

The post went viral on X and now Osula has opened up for the first time about it all.

"I remember it well," Osula told Newcastle's official matchday programme ahead of their game with Bournemouth.

"There was a skills competition in Denmark. I won that and there were a few others in Scandinavia. They selected the best ones from there and brought everyone from around the world to come and prove your skills.

"There was dribbling, practices, and at the end of the day they voted and thought I was the winner which was a proud moment for me as well.

"They handed me the award at half-time of a game at Old Trafford, so it's a memory that lasts with me. It's funny that it came back [after scoring] against Manchester United.

"I was young, enjoying football. When you're young you just want to go to different football camps across the country and enjoy football with different people. It was just when I wasn't training in the summer.

"I was always wanted to be something when I was young. I'm sure for many people it's a dream to become something. That's what I keep pushing for and what I want to be in the future."
