Leeds 3 Wolves 0: Wolves Player Ratings

Rebecca Fernandez rates Wolves performance in the 3-0 loss to Leeds

Today was the day that had been looming for some time.

Bentley 5.5

Man of the match

He did an okay job and saved a few chances. None of the goals were really his fault. He also had no striker as a reference point to pass the ball to.

Jackson Tchatchoua 2

One of the worst performances I have ever seen. He was abysmal. He could not pass the ball, put in a cross, or make a tackle.

Toti 3

He made some really bad errors. He was the weakest defender in the Wolves back line. Just poor and completely off the pace. A comedy of errors.

Santi Bueno 4

He was not great today, and probably had one of his worst games. He struggled against Calvert-Lewin and was caught out a few times in the air and on the ball.

Ladislav Krejci 3.5

He made loads of mistakes at the back and was weak in the aerial duel. He came off after being pushed, but today he was just off it.

Hugo Bueno 3.5

He either runs forward or passes back, and his defending is questionable. He also gave away the penalty for the third goal by putting his foot in.

Andre 4

Not immense, and he did not do much going forward. He played better than some of the others on the pitch, but it was still far below his usual standard.

Joao Gomes 4.5

He had an okay first half but faded in the second. He was the best of the midfield players. He also looked very frustrated as the game went on.

Angel Gomes 3

He went off injured in the 37th minute, but up to that point he had not really done anything to affect the game. It was not his type of match, and he did not take his set pieces well.

JEAN RICNER Bellegarde 3.5

In my opinion, he did not really look like he was trying enough, and he did not have much time on the ball. He did not bring anything to the game and lacked intensity.

Adam Armstrong 4

He was invisible for large parts of the match and had to drop deep to get involved. He should not be considered as a lone centre forward. He has a good finish, but it is pointless if the ball cannot get to him.

Mané 4.5 (sub, 37th minute)

He was not amazing, but at least when he came on, he brought something to the front line and tried to make an impact.

Lima 3.5 (2nd half)

He played better than Tchatchoua, but it was still nothing to shout about. It was also not the right match to bring him on after spending so long on the bench.

Rodrigo Gomes 4.5 (sub, 66th minute)

He always tries when he comes on. He played with more intensity than Bellegarde, but did not get many chances. In my opinion, he was brought on too late again.

Hwang (sub, 75th minute, no rating)

No rating given, because I did not see enough of him in the game.

MANAGER: Rob Edwards 2

The starting line-up was completely wrong, the substitutions were poor, and they were far too late, as usual. I really hope Tolu was injured, because it was clear a striker was needed. I do not understand the tactics of using long balls and crosses with so many short players on the pitch.

Man of the match: Dan Bentley

Overall performance rating: 3

Best moment: the agony was over.

Brought up in Coseley into a football driven family as my grandfather had his own football team and my father played for him. Gold and black throughout the family! with family friends such as Jimmy Mullen…

However, I haven’t been as often as I would’ve liked, due to being a champion Irish dancer, travelling all over the world up until the age of 21 and then living abroad for over 18 years, I follow my team every week without fail.

Now with two sons being avid football fans who play the sport and the eldest a coach and doing his scouting qualifications, now back in the UK, I’m sure I will be Molineux bound again very soon

COYW always and forever.
