Eddie Howe faced more questions on his Newcastle United future after losing to AFC Bournemouth.
The pressure continues to mount on the Magpies’ head coach after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to former club AFC Bournemouth at St James’ Park.
Newcastle are currently on a three-game Premier League losing streak and have lost eight of their 11 matches. It’s also five defeats from six on home turf, with Howe’s side languishing in 14th place.
With only five matches of the season remaining, United are six points below the European places and, up until Brighton & Hove Albion’s late equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur last night, were maybe worried about being dragged into the relegation picture.
Eddie Howe reaffirms belief he is the right manager for Newcastle United
Serious questions are being asked about Howe’s position, but he retains the belief that he can turn the current situation around.
Howe said: “In my belief in myself, it can't waver, and it's not. I think that's in every moment. That's in good moments where I try to stay very level and very calm, where I don't believe the hype one way, it has to work in reverse the other way, where I have to retain a real belief in my work and my staff and what I do.
“So, yeah, despite what other people may say, that's there. But of course, I'm very aware of those results, and they're not good enough.”

Howe added: “It's just winning games. It's a very simple remedy, but very hard to deliver. The momentum is against us at the moment, and you can feel that in the big moments in the game.
“But then you're looking at the big players to swing that momentum your way, and we haven't done that individually enough. I don't think the individuals... You go back to Will Osula’s goal against Manchester United not so long ago, that won us the game. That was an individual moment, action.
“We haven't had enough of that. So hopefully with Bruno's return, if we can keep him fit, could be the catalyst for that.”
Eddie Howe comes out fighting
Just 24 hours before the Bournemouth defeat, Howe spoke of his desire to lead what many feel will be a summer rebuild, though vowed to step aside if he feels he isn’t the right man for the job.
“In terms of my fire, my fire is burning very, very strongly. That's no guarantee obviously, from my side what's going to happen in the future, because, as I've said, the forces that in football clubs move quickly.
“But my fire is there, there's loads of wood stacked up and I'm ready to put it on it.
“Of course I just want to serve the club. I just want to do what's right for the football club and that's always been my aim. If that's me leaving to help the club, then of course that's something I'll do. I've got no issue doing that, it's not about me.
“But if I believe I'm the right person to take the club forward, which I do currently right now, then I'll do that and I'll fight to the end. I'll fight harder than I've ever fought before but it's making sure that those two things are aligned.”
