Fabian Hurzeler had his say about a 2-2 Premier League draw between Brighton and Tottenham.
The Seagulls are in contention to be one of England’s qualifiers for continental football for the second time in four seasons, and a win would have pushed them into sixth spot in the Premier League table, one point ahead of Chelsea. However, they must be content with another stalemate of the same scoreline against Spurs, having evenly shared all four strikes at the Amex Stadium in September.
‘Today wasn't our best game’
Similarly to that showdown on the south coast, Spurs, now coached by Roberto de Zerbi, started in the brighter fashion out of the two outfits, and Pedro Porro put away a header to take the lead.
Kaoru Mitoma, substituted on for the injured Diego Gomez, grabbed the leveller, and Georginio Rutter repeated that feat off the bench in the second half to cancel out a superb Xavi Simons strike.
"Not our best performance, but we showed belief through the whole game. We were there to win it, especially in the second half. We controlled, we dominated, we had so many chances.
"We looked good, we have to believe to win it. I have to say regarding the performance, we take the point. We are disappointed because we wanted more. We showed good character.
*“We had the big chance and we didn't score. They scored in a brilliant moment. We weren't always able to defend Xavi Simons, we didn't always perform at the highest level, but we showed character.*
Substitutes make the difference
“Our subs made a huge difference when they came into the game, they had a big impact.”
Eyes on European qualification
"We are sticking together as a group. Today wasn't our best game, but we take the point. We are still on a good run. We take the positives, but it's noise [about European qualification]. There are still five big games to go, we just focus game to game."
